Living in North Peoria
North Peoria neighborhoods stretch up Allen Road from War Memorial Drive, past the Pioneer Industrial Park, to Route 6 and beyond. It's where I do much of my work, and it covers several generations of homes in a short drive.
Willow Knolls Road crosses Allen Road and is the area's main shopping corridor. Willow Knolls Court has Sam's Club, Kohl's, the GQT Willow Knolls 14 theater, Monical's Pizza and Olive Garden, with more shops, coffee and gas stations along the road. Hy-Vee, Route 6, I-74 and the Grand Prairie shopping area are all close.

North Peoria homes and communities
Between War Memorial Drive and Route 6, most homes and subdivisions date from the 1960s and 1970s, including Idyllbrook and Northgate on the east side of Allen Road. Northgate Park, nearby, was built mostly from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s.
North of Route 6, most homes were built from the early 1990s to 2010, with the biggest building boom from 2000 to 2007 and slower building since.
Several condo communities sit close together along Willow Knolls Road, including Willow Lake and Windchime on a resident-only lake, and Fairway Villas at the edge of Kellogg Golf Course.
North Peoria schools
North Peoria homes are in either Peoria Public Schools District 150, where the high school is Richwoods High School, or Dunlap School District 323, where it's Dunlap High School. Most homes north of Willow Knolls Road are in Dunlap and most south of it are in Peoria, but the line zigzags, so I always check the specific address before you fall for a house.
