Morton neighborhoods sit about ten miles east of Peoria along Route 150, and I-74 splits the town nearly in half. That makes getting around the region easy in every direction.
Morton calls itself the Pumpkin Capital of the World, and the four-day Morton Pumpkin Festival, held every September since 1967, is the big event of the year. There's no traditional downtown, but a central stretch has restaurants, coffee shops and boutique shopping, and the town has several parks.

Morton homes
Morton has a mix of ranches and two-story homes, with a lot of relatively newer construction from the last 20 years. It has also seen more new building in the last decade than most of the area, where large-scale construction mostly stopped around 2008 to 2010.
West of the interstate, land that Caterpillar once planned to expand onto became retail, hotels and shopping instead. There's still a large Caterpillar plant in town.

Morton Community Unit School District 709 includes Jefferson, Lincoln, Lettie Brown and Grundy elementary schools for kindergarten through sixth grade, Morton Junior High School and Morton High School.
