Germantown Hills neighborhoods trade a bit of convenience for a lot of room. The village sits in Woodford County, just northeast of East Peoria and right next to Metamora, and the first thing most people notice is the space. Lots run larger here than in Peoria or in many Dunlap and Morton subdivisions.
It isn't a place without anything, though. The village has Nena Ace Hardware with a boutique attached, a Casey's, a Pizza Hut, a couple of small restaurants, places of worship and the fire station. For a bigger grocery run or a night out, most people head to Metamora next door or back toward East Peoria and Peoria.
