A Woodford County town halfway between Peoria and Bloomington-Normal, with Eureka College and Eureka Lake.

- Older homes, many 100 to 150 years old or more, close to the town center and the college. Newer subdivisions near the lake, mostly built in the 1990s and early 2000s. Since around 2008 to 2010, only a few homes have been built one at a time.

- About halfway between Peoria and Bloomington-Normal, practical for commutes to either. Shannan lived here herself.

- Getting around
- About 20 to 25 minutes east of Peoria in Woodford County, roughly halfway between Peoria and Bloomington-Normal, which makes it a practical home base when commutes go both directions. Main Street (Route 117) runs north-south through town, Route 24 runs east-west across the state, and there are only a stoplight or two.
- Nearby
- Main Street shops, boutiques and small restaurants, the county courthouse, and Eureka College, where Ronald Reagan studied. Eureka Lake Park, a 30-acre lake on about 240 acres of parkland built in the 1940s, hosts festivals through the year and an excellent Fourth of July fireworks show. The Cannery, a wedding and event venue in the restored brick pumpkin cannery from 1895, is a reminder that Eureka was the original Pumpkin Capital of the World before pumpkin canning moved to Morton.
